OBAMA’S RACE OBSESSION
LOS ANGELES—Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Founder and President of BOND Action weighed in today on the controversy over the firing of Shirley Sherrod, a black Agriculture Department official abruptly dismissed for alleged racist remarks captured on edited video footage. Once the full video was aired and her speech was put in context, officials realized that they acted prematurely and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack publicly apologized. President Obama phoned Mrs. Sherrod yesterday to personally express his regret over her treatment by his administration. The following is Rev. Peterson’s statement regarding this matter:
“The Obama Administration has a serious problem with race—they’re obsessed with it! Once again they tried to exploit what they thought was a racially charged situation and it backfired on them. Far from being a post-racial president, Barack Obama is the most racially divisive president in history. Here are a few examples:
“Neither President Obama nor any top administration official repudiated the NAACP for their lies and slander labeling the Tea Party movement as ‘racist.’ In fact, First Lady Michelle Obama embraced their platform and delivered the keynote address at the NAACP’s annual convention on the eve before they passed their anti-Tea Party resolution.
“Recently the Justice Department dismissed voter intimidation charges against the racist New Black Panther Party—showing that this administrations will not prosecute black racists despite overwhelming evidence presented to them.
“Last July, President Obama accused the Cambridge Police Department of ‘acting stupidly’ when they arrested Harvard University Professor Henry Louis Gates who is black—once again Obama was on the wrong side of a racially-charged issue.
“These examples show that Obama is very much a man with a racial obsession. His administration uses race as a wedge to distract and divide Americans while they advance their radial left-wing political agenda.”
